Zira Carylin Powell Taylor of Savannah, Georgia, died Sunday, June 6, 2021, at Hospice of The Carolina Foothills in Forest City, North Carolina. She moved to Forest City in 2019 be closer to her daughter. Zira was born on December 26, 1938, in Sylvania, Georgia and was a daughter of the late Edward Hill Powell and Lexie Elijah Wiggins Powell. She worked for Candler Hospital in the Billing Department until her retirement. Zira was a longtime member of St. John’s Episcopal Church in Savanah where she had also worked as a church secretary.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Carroll Liston Taylor, her daughters, Teresa Taylor Yarbrough and Denise Taylor Leprohon, and her sister, Nina Belle Braddock.
Survivors include her daughter, Bebe Taylor Ingle and husband Randy of Forest City, North Carolina, her sister, Sybil Cribbs and husband Ray of Savannah, Georgia, her grandchildren, Lexie Drake, Ryan McGowan, Taylor Ingle and Meghan Melton as well as seven great-grandchildren.
A service from the graveside will be held at 2:30 PM on Thursday, June 10, 2021, at Greenwich Cemetery in Savannah, Georgia officiated by the Reverend Father Gavin Dunbar, Rector of St. John’s Episcopal Church. The family will greet friends following the service at the graveside.
