Wynelle Price McDaniel, 98, a long-time resident of Caroleen, died on October 14, 2020 at Oakland Living Center. A native of Rutherford County, she was the daughter of the late Joseph M. Price and Mittie McMahan Price. She was preceded in death by her husband, J. R. “Bud” McDaniel, son, J. R. “Buddy” McDaniel, Jr., as well as four brothers, Bruce, Jake, Joe, John, and sister, Cynthia Price Padgett. She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Harriett Miller, two grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
For forty-five years, she was employed by Burlington Industries at the Caroleen Plant.
Mrs. McDaniel held membership in Caroleen Baptist Church for more that seventy-five years. She served as deacon, Sunday school teacher, choir member and volunteer youth minister; as a member of the pastor and minister of music selection committees, founder of the College Scholarship Fund for youth, and fundraiser for youth, music and building projects. She was also a member of the world mission support groups in Great Britain, Germany, and Africa, where she arranged for two students to come to this country and provided financial support for their additional education.
Wynelle’s service to the community included; member and officer for the Rutherford County Community Chorus; member of the Board of Directors for Rutherford County Concert Series; organizer, officer and long-time member of the Lucille Wall Music Club; and was one of the founders of Hospice of Rutherford County, where she served as a patient volunteer for many years.
A funeral service will be held at 3 o’clock Tuesday, October 20, 2020 at The Padgett and King Chapel, Forest City with Pastor F. Spencer Price officiating. The viewing and visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in the Rutherford County Memorial Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Caroleen Baptist Church, Post Office Box 489, Caroleen, North Carolina 28019 or Gardner Webb University-McDaniel Scholarship Fund, Post Office Box 997, Boiling Springs, North Carolina 28017.
