William Carl Hyder, age 82 of Bostic, died Friday, February 25, 2022, at Rutherford Regional Medical Center. Carl was born on June 15, 1939, in Rutherford County and was a son of the late Paul Forrest Hyder and Mary McCombs Hyder.
He had worked in supervision for Broyhill Industries for several years. He earned a bachelor’s degree in Nursing from Gaston Community College and was also a Paralegal. Carl worked as Registered Nurse with special needs children for 30 years until his retirement. He was also a member of First United Methodist Church of Forest City and a member of Forest City Masonic Lodge No. 381,AF&AM. He honorably served his country in the United States Air Force.
Survivors include his son, Terry Hyder of Florida, his daughters, Cindy Hyder Kiser of Winston-Salem, and Lisa Hyder Wilson of Bostic, his sister, Judy Hyder Adkinson and her husband, Dr. Franklin Adkinson of Baltimore, Maryland, his grandchildren, Michelle Brookshire Vestal (Mike), Kaylen Kiser Turner (Jay), great-grandchildren, Hayden Ponder, Magnolia Vestal, and Ezrah Turner, his former wife, Sue Carswell Hyder of Bostic, as well as a niece and nephew and great-nieces and great nephews.
The funeral service will be held at 3 o’clock Tuesday, March 1, 2022, in The Padgett and King Chapel with the Reverend Rhonda Blackburn and Reverend Jason Madison officiating. Military honors will be accorded on the lawn of the chapel following the service. The family will receive friends from 2 until 3 o’clock prior to the service at the mortuary.
