William "Bill" Brittain Obituary

William Baxter Brittain, age 84 of Ellenboro, died Saturday, February 24, 2024, at Fairhaven of Forest City.  Bill was born in Clinton, South Carolina on July 30, 1939, and was a son of the late Ernest Baxter Brittain and Helen Elizabeth Smith Brittain.  He worked for Overnite Trucking as both a driver and Dock Supervisor until his retirement and was a member of the Mt. Olivet Baptist Church.

Bill enjoyed travel and he and Mildred traveled across the United States visiting almost every state.  He also enjoyed landscaping and working in his yard, and his passion was woodworking and antique clocks.  He had many clocks in his collection. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Brenda Brittain Key, brother, Bobby Brittain, and great-grandson, Asher Splawn.

Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Mildred Richards Brittain of the home, his daughter, Sherrie B. Bostic and husband Scott of Ellenboro, his brothers, Tony Brittain and wife Marty of Lake Murray, South Carolina, Randy Brittain and wife Dee of New Ellington, South Carolina, and his grandchildren and great-grandchildren whom he loved so much, Amy Saad and husband Ken, Aaron Bostic and wife Carly, and Allie Bostic, and great-grandchildren, Braeden Bostic, Madeline Saad, Brittain Saad, Tucker Splawn, Grace Splawn, and Landon Splawn. 

The family will have a visitation from 2 until 3 o’clock on Tuesday, February 27, 2024, at Mt. Olivet Baptist Church where all are welcome to visit with the family.  Interment will be private for the family in the church cemetery officiated by the Reverend Scott Henson and Reverend Travis Laflin.
