William Campbell Obituary

William Price Campbell, age 85 of Forest City died Friday, June 25, 2021, at Hospice of the Carolina Foothills.  To his family and friends, he was known as “Lightning”.  William was born on August 4, 1935, in the Duncan’s Creek community of Rutherford County and was a son of the late Arthur Lee and Mamie Hunt Campbell. 


William worked for Mastercraft Textiles for 37 years and following retirement he continued to work with Campbell’s  Cleaning Service.  He enjoyed working in his vegetable garden and house painting.  He loved spending time with his family and watching westerns on television. 

 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Lillian Jenkins Campbell in 2011, his brothers, Russell, James, Buren, Roy, Fred, and Dee Campbell as well as his sisters, Margaret C. Melton and Pauline C. Daves.

 

Survivors include his sons, Roger Campbell and wife Lisa of Spindale, Terry Campbell of Bostic, his daughters, Sherry C. Bridges and husband Ray of Forest City and Rena C. Campbell and husband Donald of Shelby, a brother, Charles Campbell of Forest City and sister, Diane Coleman of Missouri.  There are also five grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.

 

The funeral service will be held at 2 o’clock Tuesday, June 29, 2021 in Goode’s Creek Baptist Church with Reverend Wayne Toney officiating.  Interment will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 o’clock Monday at The Padgett and King Mortuary.
