W. D. Kennedy, age 69 of Forest City, died Monday, July 1, 2024, at his home.  He was born July 15, 1954, in Rutherford County and was a son of the late Paul Kennedy and Emma Dixon Kennedy. 

Growing up in Forest City, his father was Chief of the Forest City Police Department and he attended local schools, including East Rutherford High School where he was in the graduating class of 1972. 

W.D. worked in Real Estate and property management owning his own business for many years. 

The most important part of his life was his family and his love and dedication to them was always first and foremost in everything he did.  W.D. was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. 

W.D. was also a man of great faith serving his Lord and Savior daily.  He was a dedicated member of Cornerstone Fellowship where he found strength in worship.  He was instrumental in starting the Firewood Ministry, cutting and distributing firewood to those in need as well as the Van ministry. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Jason Eric Kennedy in 2015, his brother, James “Doodle” Kennedy, his niece, Sharon Greene, and a infant child.

Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Terri Huntsinger Kennedy of the home, his son, Marc Kennedy and wife Tracie of Forest City, his grandchildren, Brayden Kennedy, Addy Kennedy, and Isabelle Kennedy, and nieces, Marianna O’Dell and husband Jay, and Morgan Rosenberg.

The funeral service will be held at 1 o’clock on Saturday, July 6, 2024, at Cornerstone Fellowship with the Reverend Mike Snelgrove and Reverend Mike Deese officiating.  Interment will follow in the Cool Springs Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 11 until 12:45 Saturday in the Sanctuary at Cornerstone Fellowship prior to the service.
