Virnell Culbreth Bailey

Mrs. Margie Virnell Bailey, age 96, died Tuesday, July 2, 2019 at Oakland Living Center where she was a resident.  Virnell was born December 5, 1922 in Rutherford County and was a daughter of the late Herbert C. and Ollie Bertha Robertson Culbreth.  She retired from Spindale Mills and later worked for the Rutherford County School System in the cafeteria at Oakland Elementary School.  She was a member of Adaville Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Bailey a son, Donald Nelson Bailey and her nephew, Jeffrey Culbreth. 

Survivors include her son, Tim Bailey and wife Peggy of Lake Bowen, SC, daughters, Diann Bailey and Regina Seelbach both of Durham, her daughter-in-law, Shirley Bailey of Union Mills, , a niece Becky Boone, and nephew Phillip Culbreth.  There are also six grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, and a number of great-great-grandchildren and great nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 11 o'clock Friday, July 5, 2019 in The Padgett and King Chapel with Pastor Harold Green officiating. The body will lie in state in the chapel one hour prior to the service.  The family will have an informal visitation following the service at the mortuary.  Interment will be private for the family in the Adaville Baptist Church Cemetery.
