Venita Wells Hutchins

Venita Wells Hutchins, age 84 of Forest City died Thursday, December 21, 2023, at her home. Venita was born April 24, 1939, in Henrietta, NC and was a daughter of the late Yates and Verna Greene Wells.

Venita was the owner and operator of the popular live music entertainment venue, The Wedgewood in Forest City.  She loved and adored her family and enjoyed spending time with them. She also enjoyed music, playing the piano and singing. Venita was a Baptist and in her spare time enjoyed taking walks, especially around the lake at Isothermal Community College.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Robert Eugene Rothrock, and her second husband James Samuel Hutchins. She also was preceded in death by her brother Lowell Wells and her sister Imagene House.

Survivors include her sons;  Carl Rothrock and wife Candice of Rutherfordton, and Jeff Rothrock and wife Carmen of Carolina Beach, NC, her daughters; Cindy Kim of Atlanta, GA and Susan Russell and husband David of Forest City, her sisters; Joyce Myrick, Carol Blanton, and Kay Ward, grandchildren;  Brandon Rothrock and wife Haley, Jessica Fulbright and husband Brent, Emily Bagwell and husband Bobby, Robbie Rothrock, Johnlee Rothrock, Sara Rothrock, Brittany Lane and husband Ryan, Leah Sierra, Ariana Schuler, Hanna Kohler and husband Stephan, and Kaleb Kim, as well as 11 great-grandchildren.

The graveside service will be held at 2 o’clock Wednesday, December 27, 2023, at Providence Global Methodist Church Cemetery in Forest City, NC. The family will receive friends following the service at the cemetery.
