Paul Vaughn Gee, 75, of Forest City, died Wednesday, July 12, 2023 at Mission Hospital, Asheville. A native of Rutherford County, he was the son of the late Paul Gee and Pat Gordon Gee. Vaughn served his community throughout a long law enforcement career. His career began with Forest City Police Department in 1971, moving to Spindale Police Department in 1976, and lastly to the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office in 1990. The final years of his career were spent as an investigator for Rutherford County Schools until his retirement. Vaughn was a member of the Cops and Robbers Band for many years where he always enjoyed entertaining people and making them smile. He was a U S Navy veteran, an avid golfer and enjoyed reading. Vaughn loved his family, especially his grandson, Elam. In later years, he spent many hours on his front porch bird watching and completing crossword puzzles.
Survivors include his wife Trudy Bradley Gee of the home; his son Max Gee of Forest City; daughter Cassie Gee Aviles and husband Jose of Forest City; a sister, Paulette McCallister and husband Rass of Inman; grandson Elam Aviles, and a nephew Tam Stacey and wife Trish.
A memorial service will be held at three o’clock Sunday, July 16, 2023 in the Padgett & King chapel with Rev. Paul Scott and Rev. Brian Cole officiating. The family will receive friends from two until three o’ clock Sunday prior to the service. Interment will be private for the family. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 6704, Hagerstown, MD 21741.
