Vanessa Rhom Baynard

Vanessa Rhom Baynard, age 67 of Rutherfordton, died Wednesday, January 6, 2021 at Carolinas Medical in Charlotte.  She was born August 19, 1953 in Rutherford County and was a daughter of the late Grady and Martha Ray Rhom.  She worked for several years as the dietary assistant at Autumn Care Center.  Vanessa attended Long Branch Road Baptist Church and was a longtime member of the Ladies Auxiliary at S.D.O. Fire Department. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, David L. Baynard in 2019 and her sister, Nancy Ledford.
Survivors include her children, Shawn Baynard of Forest City, Nicole Baynard Burnette and husband Andy of Rutherfordton, Christy Baynard and fiancée Jared Robbins of Forest City, her brothers, James Ledford and wife Jean of Inman, SC, Grady Ledford, Jr of Rutherfordton, sisters, Lynn Stofer of Rutherfordton, Jenny Cole of Caroleen, and Becky Dooley and husband Eddie of Toccoa, Georgia.  There are also three grandchildren, Caleb Lail, Clayton Burnette, and Keaton Burnette.

The funeral service will be held at 11 o’clock Saturday, January 9, 2021 in The Padgett and King Chapel with Reverend Jerry Ruppe officiating.  Interment will follow in the Eternal Hills Memorial Park.  The family will receive friends from 10 until 11 o’clock prior to the service.  Masks and social distancing are requested.
