Tiny Marie (Johnson) Jones

Tiny Johnson Jones, age 97, formerly of Collins Avenue, Forest City, died Tuesday, January 12, 2021 at Fairhaven Home of Forest City.  Tiny was born in Forest City, North Carolina and was a daughter of the late Aman McClure Johnson and Georgia Laughter Johnson. 

Tiny worked for 35 years as a beautician.  Following retirement, she was not content to remain at home, so she found a new career working part-time in the cafeteria at Chase Middle School which later became a full-time endeavor. 

She was a longtime and faithful member of Florence Baptist Church where she had served on many church committees, served as chaperone for many of the youth group trips and was a great encourager to her church family.   Tiny also enjoyed her Sunday school class, Faith, Hope, and Friendship.   She was a fine example of a Christian wife, mother and grandmother and she took great delight in cooking and baking for her family.  She also shared a special bond with her brothers and sisters, especially her sister, “Tex”, that was her roommate at Fairhaven.   

She was preceded in death by her husband, Otis Edgar Jones in 2010, and brothers, Clarence Johnson, and Junior Johnson.

Survivors include her son, Eddy Jones and wife Doris, her daughter, Patti Jones Hardin and husband Ken all of Forest City, her sisters, Frances “Tex” Toney of Forest City and Betty Lowrance of Greensboro.  There are five grandchildren, Alyson Hardin Mayse and husband Greg, Brent Kenneth Hardin and wife Beth,  Cassidy Jones, Mishelle Lockerby and Leila Lockerby, as well as ten great-grandchildren, McClure, Camryn, Emarie, Carter, Charlie, Hana, Ivey, Davey, Nathan, and Scarlett.

The funeral service will be held at 2 o’clock Friday, January 15, 2021 in The Padgett and King Chapel with Reverend Dr. Bobby Gantt officiating.  Interment will follow in the Eternal Hills Memorial Park.  The family will receive friends from 1 until 2 o’clock Friday prior to the service.  Masks and Social distancing are requested for the safety of all attending.  *The funeral will be live streamed via the Padgett & King Mortuary & Crematory facebook page starting at 2 o'clock*.
