Larry Steve Butler, age 78, loving husband of Wanda Butler went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, April 22, 2025, at his home.

Steve was born on July 15, 1946, in Forest City, North Carolina and was a son of the late Fate Patton Butler and Sadie Ruth Smith Butler.  He was a member of Mount Pleasant Baptist Church in Forest City, and he retired from Owens-Illinois.  Everyone that knew Steve loved him.  His family brought him so much happiness.  He was the kindest, sweetest man with a loving soul.  Steve loved listening to beach/oldie music.  Steve loved shag dancing with his wife, Wanda.  He leaves behind a legacy of kindness, generosity, and devotion.

Surviving, in addition to his wife of 60 years are daughter, Melissa Childress (deceased Terry Childress) of Boiling Springs, SC, son Rodney Butler (Tammy) of Spartanburg, SC, and son Travis Butler (Jessica); grandchildren, Brandon Davis (Ashley), Matt Davis (Julia), Whitney Butler, Allye Williams (Kris), Taylor Edwards (Evan), Carolyne, Chloey, and Cathan.  He also had fifteen great grandkids that he loved dearly.  Steve was predeceased by five brothers, Charles, Bobby, Joe, Jackie and Max; and sister Ann Butler.

Funeral Services will be held at 1 o’clock on Saturday, April 26, 2025, at Mount Pleasant Baptist Church, Forest City, officiated by the Reverend Stephen Matheny.   Interment will follow at Glenwood Baptist Church Cemetery, Bostic.  The family will receive friends in the Sanctuary of the church from 12 noon until the hour of service.

The Pallbearers will be Cary Toms, Noah Toms, Heath Smith, Luke Davis, Kris Williams and Evan Edwards. 

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Agape Care Group, Hospice of the Carolina Foothills, 336 Hudlow Road, Forest City, North Carolina 28043.
