Stephen Wayne “Steve” Gammons, 76 of Forest City, North Carolina died Wednesday, July 27, 2022, at Rutherford Regional Medical Center. He was born May 4, 1946, in New Haven, Connecticut and was a son of the late Harold Gammons and Grace Lee Hoyt.
Steve was a precision sheet metal mechanic in Milford, Connecticut for many years and moved to Maine in the late 70’s. Steve was a jack of all trades; a very talented man who worked as a tractor mechanic, carpenter and was service manager at Morrow Enterprises after moving to North Carolina. After his time at Morrow Enterprises, he was self-employed repairing lawn mowers and performing apartment maintenance.
Steve loved to downhill Ski at Snowshoe during his younger years and was a very faithful to God and his church. As a member of Cornerstone Fellowship, he served in the van ministry, firewood ministry and was always the handyman anytime anything needed repair.
Steve was the most precious and loving husband to Sharon Lee Gammons for 37 years. In addition to his wife, Steve is survived by his children; Eric Gammons, Cyndy Larsen (Frank) and step-son Adam Davis; brother David Gammons (Jane) of North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; sisters Joyce McGrath (Leo), Lesley Hall (Steven) and Jennifer Young (Randy) all of Virginia. There are 7 grandsons, 3 granddaughters and numerous nephews and nieces.
The funeral service will be held at 2 o’clock on Saturday, July 30, 2022, at Cornerstone Fellowship with Pastor Mike Deese and Pastor Mike Snelgrove officiating. The family will receive friends from 1 until 2 o’clock in the Sanctuary prior to the service.
Memorials to assist with medical expenses may be made to Cornerstone Fellowship, 1186 Hudlow Road, Forest City, NC 28043 and additionally, there will be a money tree present at the service for those who wish to donate.
