Sonya Simpson Obituary

Sonya Renee Simpson, 59, of Mooresboro, NC died Monday, October 23, 2023 at her home. Born in Mecklenburg County, NC, she was the daughter of the late Dennis Lamar Simpson and Carolyn Jessie Wiggins. Sonya was a part of One on One Care of Shelby, NC and also Rutherford Life Services of Spindale, NC. She had many things she enjoyed. Those were frequent trips to Smith’s Drug to eat, trips to the nail spa, animals, shopping, reading her bible, her church and home group family, dancing, and jewelry. Sonya also enjoyed trips to the beach and mountains, fast cars and football. Attending the special needs prom at Chase High School was a favorite of hers.

Survivors include her guardian, Faye Rice and husband Jerry; her one on one caregiver, Petra Gary; and her favorite extended family members, Sarah Caruso, Kathryn Pitts, Oscar Richard and Tiffany Pitts.

A celebration of her life will be held at a later date at Rutherford Life Services, Spindale.
