Shirley McKinney Glover, age 85, of Forest City NC, passed away peacefully at her home on June 23rd, 2026.

Shirley lived her life as a devoted wife, a loving mother, grandmother, and sister, as well as a friend to many. To know her was to love her.

On most days, Shirley could be found hard at work in her yard, gardening and caring for all of her beautiful flowers. Caring for people came naturally to her as well. If you visited her, you would likely find yourself sharing a donut or candy with her after she insisted that you sit down and stay a while.

Her faith in God was unwavering and carried her through every season of life. Most of her life she was a member of Hopewell United Methodist Church and in the last years she was a devoted member of Salem United Methodist Church where she shared her beautiful voice with her church family as a member of the choir.

Shirley was a shining light at First Union in Bostic for many years.

More than anything, Shirley treasured the time she spent with her family as well as friends that became family through the years.

Shirley was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 58 years, Bobby Glover; her parents George C. McKinney and Minnie Bell Logan McKinney and her beloved siblings, Marie Monteith, Ruth Roberson, Helen Long, Edith Jones and James McKinney.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Rhonda Hardin (Jeff); her son, Rodney Glover (Tammy); her grandchildren, Christian Glover, Corbin Hardin, and Cragan Newton (Shane); her treasured great-grandson, Cooper; and her sister, Barbara Epley (Don).

While we are all deeply saddened by Shirley’s passing, we are immensely grateful for the memories we have shared with her and the joy and love she brought to our lives.

The Memorial service will be held at 11 o’clock on Saturday, June 27, 2026, at Salem United Methodist Church with the Reverend Kathy Earley officiating.  Interment will be private for the immediate family at Salem United Methodist Church Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 o’clock on Friday evening at Padgett and King Mortuary.
