Richard Scott Burnette, age 68 of Forest City died Sunday, February 5, 2023, at his home surrounded by his wife and daughter. 

Scott, as he was known to his family and friends was born in Rutherford County on December 27, 1954, a son of the late Howard William Burnett and Martha Patterson Burnett.  He was blessed with a successful career in Textiles as a supervisor, Plant Manager and Consultant in local plants.  He was for many years a member of Trinity Wesleyan Church.

He enjoyed his retirement to the fullest, spending time with his family, pleasure in woodworking in his personal shop and helping his close and longtime neighbors.  He also took extra pride and joy in caring for his dogs, Miyaigi, Maeling, Buster, and Oscar.

Survivors include his wife of 37 years, Alicia Burnette, his daughter, Angel Whiteside and husband Brandon and their children, Aubrie Whiteside, triplets, Ruby, Lucas, and Nora Whiteside, and Clara Whiteside all of Rutherfordton, daughter, Licia Turner and husband John of Gallatin, TN and their daughter, Haley Turner, daughter, Cindy Johnson of Maiden and their children, Brittany Smith and Heather Johnson, his brother, Franklin Burnett and wife Judy and their children, Stephanie Holley and Stephen Burnett. 

The funeral service will be held at 2 o’clock Friday, February 10, 2023, in The Padgett and King Chapel with the Reverend Joey Pitts officiating.  Interment will follow in the Rutherford County Memorial Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 1:45 on Friday prior to the service.
