Daniel Scott Bennett, age 62 of Ellenboro died Friday, September 26, 2025, at his home.  Scott was born on October 18, 1962, in Rutherford County and was a son of the late Conway and Bertha Norville Bennett. 

Scott grew up in the Harmon Street Baptist Church and was later a member of Piney Mountain Baptist Church.  He worked for 30 years in the Water Department for the Town of Forest City where he retired.  He was an avid gardener, and he enjoyed his garden as well as fishing. 

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his brothers, J.E. Bennett and Tim Bennett.

Survivors include his wife, Starla E. Bennett of the home, his step-son, Matthew Cole Bridwell, his step-daughter, Christy Bridwell Hall and husband Matt all of Lawndale, his brothers, Calvin Bennett, Bruce Bennett and wife Linda, Teddy Bennett, and David Bennett, his sisters, Nan Tessiner and husband Arnold, Diane Bennick and husband Ted, and Patsy Boone.  There are also three step-grandchildren, Jay, Layla, and Keagan.

A memorial visitation to celebrate his life will be held from 5 until 7 o’clock on Thursday, October 2, 2025, at The Padgett and King Mortuary.
