Sammy Hardin Obituary

Sammy Lee Hardin, age 67 of Bostic, died Tuesday, September 21, 2021, at his home. Sammy was born in Rutherford County on October 6, 1953, and he was a son of the late Thomas McDaniel and Marie Hardin McDaniel. Sammy was a carpenter and handyman by trade, and he worked for many years as a dispatcher for Hardin Trucking Company. He was also a member of Concord Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Hugh Hardin. 

Sammy loved people and he never met a stranger. He could have a conversation with anyone. He enjoyed woodworking and was a fan of the Green Bay Packers. Family was deeply important to Sammy, and he loved every minute they spent together, especially his five grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife, Wendy W. Hardin, his sons, David Hardin and wife Jennifer of Covington, LA, Andy Millard and wife Stacey of Forest City, his daughter, Carrie McBrayer and husband Jay of Rutherfordton, his brothers, Allen Hardin of Shelby, Tommy Joe Hardin of Spindale, Robert Hardin of Forest City and Dan Hardin of Rutherfordton, his sisters, Billie Leslie of Easley, South Carolina and Glenda Cater of Pickens, South Carolina. There are also five grandchildren, Will Millard, Emma Millard, Blanton McBrayer, Watson McBrayer, and Huntley McBrayer.

A memorial service will be held at 2 o’clock on Saturday, September 25, 2021, at Concord Baptist Church with Reverend Travis Laflin and Reverend Sam Burleson officiating. The family will receive friends from 1 until 2 o’clock prior to the service in the sanctuary of the church. For the safety of everyone attending, the family suggest that masks and social distancing be observed.
