Russell Ernest Tobine, Age 84, of Forest City, died Wednesday, March 8, 2023.
He was born in Boscowen, New Hampshire to Roy Rother Tobine and Villa Ola Thoriston, both deceased.
Russell started his career in Plastic injection molding in the birthplace of plastics, Leominster, Mass. He started as a sprue-pounder and worked his way up through the ranks to General Foreman at F. J. Kirk Molding Co., in Clinton, Mass. Plant Manager at Myron Mills, Van Brode Milling Company, in Clinton, Mass. Plant Manager at Rupert Manufacturing, in Blue Springs Missouri. Plastics Technician and Quality Control at Maryland Plastics, in Federalsburg, Maryland. Molding Manager at Norwesco in Belle Plaine, Minnesota. Plant Manager at Amloid Plastics, in Saddle Brook, New Jersey. Molding Manager at AFA Corporation, in Alexander Mills, North Carolina. Molding Manager at Packer Plastics, in Lawrence, Kansas. And lastly, Manufacturing Manager at Molding Dynamics, in Spindale, North Carolina. During his career he designed several patented molds, reduced reject rates, and increased work capacity through automation.
In Russell’s teenage days, he was a Golden Glove boxer. Later he took up the solitude of fishing, and then as his career progressed, he gravitated to Golfing with a passion. He was a long-standing member of the Rutherfordton Golf Course, having great golfing and lots of fun on many golfing beach trips.
He is predeceased by his siblings, Peter Tobine Pillsbury, Rowena Tobine Hill, Robert W. Tobine, Elsie Tobine and Raymond Tobine. He is also predeceased by his first wife, Marguerite Calcia Tobine, and his daughter Mary Ann Attianese.
He is a member of the Immaculate Conception Church of Forest City, North Carolina.
Russell is survived by his beloved wife of 45 years, Theresa (Teri) St. John. He leaves his son, Michael Tobine and wife, Donna Tobine of Hubbardston, Mass, his daughters, Patricia Bodah of Hyannis, Mass, and Kathleen Bariamis of Petersham, Mass.
He also leaves grandchildren, Tanya Tobine, Brandee Tobine Estrada, Christopher Tobine, Jacquelyn Tobine, Heidi Bodah, Ryan Kunst and Kaitlyn Kunst, and 11 great grandchildren.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12 o’clock noon on Thursday, March 16, 2023 at Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church, celebrated by The Very Reverend Father Herbert Burke, V.F., and Deacon Andy Cilone. Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday. March 15, 2023 in the Padgett and King Chapel. Visitation will follow the Rosary at the Mortuary.
Interment will be at a later date in the North Cemetery in Berlin, Massachusetts.
