Roy B Gibson, Jr

Roy B. Gibson, Jr, 79, of Henrietta, NC, died Saturday, July 16, 2022 at Hospice of the Carolina Foothills, Forest City.  Born in Union County, SC, he was the son of the late Roy B. Gibson, Sr and Evelyn Fox Gibson and also the widower of the Jeanette Fox Gibson.  Roy worked in textiles for many years and was a member of Grace Chapel, Forest City.  He served in the U S Army during the Korean Conflict as a part of the Airborne 7th Cavalry Division.   Roy enjoyed playing golf and gardening, but prior to Jeanette’s death, his favorite hobby was sitting outside with her drinking coffee.

Survivors include his daughters, Jeanne G. Owens and husband Johnny of Henrietta, NC, and Elaine Gibson of Caroleen; brothers, Thomas Gibson and Bob Gibson, both of Union, SC; eight grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren.

The funeral service will be held two o’clock Thursday, July 21st in The Padgett & King Chapel.  Interment will follow in the Oak Springs Baptist Church Cemetery, Rutherfordton, NC.  The family will receive friends from five until seven o’clock Wednesday at Padgett & King.  The Padgett & King Mortuary & Crematory is serving the Gibson family.  Online condolences can be made at www.padgettking.com.
