Rowann Bailey Carpenter

Rowann Bailey Carpenter, age 88 of Rutherfordton died Saturday, June 25, 2022, at her home.  She was born in Rutherford County on June 4, 1934, and was a daughter of the late Branchville and Gertrude Lyles Bailey.  Rowann was a member of the Long Branch Road Baptist Church and a graduate of Rutherfordton-Spindale High School.  She worked for the Rutherford County Department of Social Services as a receptionist where she retired. 

Rowann was a devoted wife, and a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Survivors include her husband of 69 years, Donald J. Carpenter of the home, her son, Donald Terry Carpenter of Jonas Ridge, North Carolina, her daughter, Kim Carpenter Newton and husband Mike of Forest City, her brother, Wendell Bailey and wife Beckie of Bostic, and her sister, Sharon Haire and husband John of Clemmons, North Carolina.  There is also one grandson, Trent Newton and wife Elizabeth and her great-grandson, Charlie Newton all of Ellenboro.

A service from the graveside will be held at 11 o’clock on Tuesday, June 28, 2022, at Eternal Hills Memorial Park with the Reverend Jerry Ruppe officiating.  The family will receive friends following the service at the cemetery.
