Ronald Simpson Obituary

Ronald N. Simpson, age 67 of Rutherfordton, died Saturday, August 21, 2021, at Atrium Health in Shelby.  Ronald was born on January 24, 1954, in Rutherford County and was a son of the late Robert B. and Ellen Bell Simpson.  He worked for many years as a transport director in the trucking industry and following retirement, he began working for the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Department in the detention center where he worked until recently.

Ronald was a member of Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church and the Western Star Masonic Lodge, No. 91 in Rutherfordton where he advanced through the chairs, becoming Master of the Lodge in 1996.  He was a lifelong farmer who had an appreciation for all things outdoors.  Farming, hunting, fishing, and cattle were his passion.  And his greatest joy was his family, especially his daughter, Caroline.

Survivors include his wife, Cindy H. Simpson of the home, his daughter, Caroline Simpson and fiancée, Blake Queen, his brother, Donald Ray Simpson and wife Barbara of Rutherfordton, his sister, Wanda Simpson Saine and husband Wayne of Lincoln Co.  There are also a number of nieces and nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews as well as cousins and a host of friends that Ronald loved like his own family.

Ronald will be buried in a private committal service in the Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery, officiated by the Reverend Keyes Pendleton.  The family is planning a Celebration of his life in the coming months and will be announced when plans are finalized.

The family request that memorials in his memory be made to Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church, Post Office Box 880, Forest City, North Carolina 28043.
