Robert Cecil Vickers Obituary

Robert Cecil Vickers, age 91 of Forest City died Thursday, May 19, 2022, at Fairhaven of Forest City. 

Born December 21, 1930, in Rutherford County, North Carolina he was a son of the late James Robert Vickers and Grace Scoggins Vickers. He was a veteran of the Korean War having served in the United States Army and also served in the National Guard. Cecil worked for Spindale Mills and the New Cherokee Corporation for 46 years prior to his retirement, was a faithful member of the Crestview Baptist Church where he was a member of the choir and had served as a Deacon. He was also a former member of the Danieltown Volunteer Fire Department.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Mary Helen Shehan Vickers on November 19, 2021, and by his brother, Clyde M. Vickers.

Surviving are his son, Robert Scott Vickers and wife, Denita of Forest City, and his daughter, Debbie Vickers Harris and husband, Scott of Rutherfordton; five grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 24, 2022, at 2 o’clock at the Crestview Baptist Church with the Reverend Kevin Rohm officiating. Interment will follow in the Rutherford County Memorial Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 1:45 prior to the service at the Church.
