Robert Calvin Wilson, age 88 of Lake Lure, North Carolina died Monday, March 21, 2022, at Greenville Memorial Hospital. Robert was born on July 14, 1933, in Rutherford County and was the son of the late Cal and Novella Nanney Wilson.

He was a member of Chimney Rock Baptist Church for more than 60 years and for many years served on the Cemetery Committee. Robert worked for General Instruments in Fairview where he was a Supervisor in Heat Treating until his retirement. He was a graduate of Lake Lure High School and served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was a longtime member of the Chimney Rock Fire Department until his health no longer allowed him to serve, and the American Legion Chimney Rock Post 10473.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his, wife, Joe Brooks Wilson, his sisters, Ruth Searcy, Pat Parton, and Dorothy Randall.

Surviving is his son, Robert Wilson and wife Aimee of Sapphire, NC; and five grandchildren, Brooks Wilson of Arden, NC, Madyson Wuest of Atlanta, GA, Meghan Wuest of Arden, NC Maxwell Wuest of Athens, GA and Gabriel Wilson of Charleston, SC.

The funeral service will be held at 1 o’clock Friday, March 25, 2022, at Chimney Rock Baptist Church with the Reverend Alex Heafner officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with Military Honors accorded by the Rutherford County Honor Guard. The family will receive friends in the Sanctuary from Noon until the hour of service.
