Robert Dwayne Martin, age 63 of the Harris Community, died Friday, January 15, 2021 at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.  Robert was born September 18, 1957 in Rutherford County and retired from West Rock after 43 years in the maintenance department.  He was a member Holly Springs Baptist Church and a former fireman with Danieltown Volunteer Fire Department and later S.D.O. Fire Department. 

 

Robert loved flying ultralight planes, playing guitar and a trip to Krispy Kreme for doughnuts.  He was the owner and operator of “Farmers Heritage Kettle Corn” where along with his wife, enjoyed traveling to events, especially in Forest City to sell Kettle Corn. 
 

He was preceded in death by his father, Worth Martin.  Survivors include his mother, Billie Morgan Martin of Rutherfordton, his wife of 44 years, Anita Padgett Martin of the home, his son, Steven Martin and wife Kelly of Green Creek, NC, his daughter, Jennifer Martin Silvers and husband Justin of Forest City, his brother, Elvis Martin and wife Susan of Rutherfordton, and his sisters, Sheila Owensby and husband Thurman of Forest City, Lori Moore and husband Dean of Rutherfordton, and Angie Morgan and her life partner, Deborah Price of Camden, SC.  There are also two grandchildren, Taylor and Skylar Silvers.

 

A graveside service will be held at 3 o’clock Tuesday, January 19, 2021 in the Holly Springs Baptist Church Cemetery with Reverend Craig Lovelace and Reverend Kenneth Kanipe officiating.  Robert will lie in state from 1 until 2:30 on Tuesday in the Sanctuary of Holly Springs Baptist Church for those wishing to view and sign the guest registry.  For the safety of those attending the graveside service, , masks and social distancing are requested.
