Robert Herman Hollifield, Sr, age 76 of Forest City died Wednesday, July 14, 2021, at his home. Robert was born on February 27, 1945, in McDowell County, North Carolina and was a son of the late Reverend Tull Hollifield and Evelyn Black Hollifield.
He was a graduate of Marion High School and served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam Conflict. He was also a member of Sandy Level Baptist Church where he had served as a deacon. Robert had a great love of gospel music, and he sang with the Christianaires Gospel Group and the Oldtimers Quartet. Robert was a truck driver for many years and he sold cars for Wilkins Motor Company where he retired.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Jewel Fox.
Survivors include his sons, Robert “Bobby” Hollifield, Jr and wife Julie, of Bostic, Charles “Chuck” Hollifield and wife Sandy, of Forest City, his grandchildren, Savannah Griffith and husband Stephen, C. J. Hollifield, Christopher McCurry, Amber Radford and husband Mikey, and great-grandchildren, Braelyn Davis, Zoe Radford, his brother, Billy Hollifield and wife Madge, his sisters, Midge Templin and husband Harry, and Sybil Palmer and husband Roger.
The memorial service will be held at 3 o’clock Sunday, July 18, 2021, in The Padgett and King Chapel with Reverend George Whitmire officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:30 until 2:45 prior to the service at the mortuary. Interment of his ashes will be held privately in the Oak Grove Cemetery in Marion, North Carolina.
