Robert Lee “Bob” Chapman, Sr., age 92 of Forest City died Friday, December 1, 2023, at home. Bob, as he was known to his family and friends, was born on November 17, 1931, in Rutherford County and was a son of the late George and Biddie Novella Horn Chapman. He was a Baptist, attended Tri-High School and worked for Stonecutter Mills Corporation for many years in the Supply Room until his retirement.
Bob was a simple man that worked hard and loved his family. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, James Chapman and sisters, Hazel Flynn, and Lib Teseniar.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Marie Johnson Chapman of the home, his son, Robbie Chapman and wife Amy of Forest City, his brother, Jack Chapman of Forest City, his sister, Ann Splawn of Rutherfordton as well as grandchildren, Larissa Chapman Ingle (Marcus), Nathan Chapman (Carla) and Justin Bailey. There are also two great-grandchildren, Peyton and Axel and an expectant great-grandchild, Aizlynn.
A service from the graveside will be held at 1 o’clock on Tuesday, December 5, 2023, in the Caroleen-Avondale-Henrietta Cemetery with his grandson, Nathan Chapman officiating the service. The family will have visitation following the service at the cemetery.
