Ricky Curtis

Richard Charles “Ricky” Curtis, age 52 of Forest City died Wednesday, April 28, 2021 at the Hospital for Restorative Care in Spartanburg.  Ricky, as he was known was born on November 5, 1968 in Rutherford County and worked as an inspector for the North Carolina Department of Transportation.  Ricky was a dedicated firefighter having served for many years as a firefighter and EMT for Hudlow Fire and Rescue as well as serving as Assistant Chief for the former Volunteer Lifesaving Crew in Rutherfordton.  He was also a member of Cross Link Baptist Church in Forest City.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Rose Dale Curtis.

Survivors include his father and stepmother, Ray and Marlene Curtis of Forest City, his mother, Rose Lee Waters of Lancaster, SC, his sons, Jason Curtis and wife Katey of Ellenboro, Joseph Curtis of the home, and daughter, Victoria Curtis of Lake Lure, his brothers, Jimmy Curtis and wife Debra, Larry Curtis and wife Lisa, and Randy Curtis and wife Kathy all of Forest City, his sisters, Luann Curtis Talbert and husband Robert of Inman, SC, and Cindy Toms of Rutherfordton.  He also has one granddaughter and the love of his life, Madalynn Curtis. 

A memorial service will be held at 3 o’clock Tuesday, May 4, 2021 at the Mount Vernon Baptist Church with the Reverend Dr. Scott Courtney, Reverend Tripp Queen and Reverend Nathan Chapman officiating.  Visitation will be in the church sanctuary from 2 until 3 o’clock prior to the service.  Interment with Firefighter Honors will follow in the church cemetery accorded by the Rutherford County Firefighters Honor Guard.
