Richard Walter Ranc

Richard Walter Ranc, age 85 of Rutherfordton died Tuesday, January 20, 2026.

Richard was born on March 5, 1940, in Queens, New York and was a son of the late Walter and Ellen Gorton Ranc.  He had worked for the National Park Service as a Seasonal Guide.  Richard was very talented musically and was the organist for the Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church for many years.  He also served honorably in the United States Army.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Peter Ranc.

Survivors include his cousins, Penelope Truitt of Hyde Park, New York, and Sandra Cassens of South Carolina.

The Funeral Mass will be held at 11 o'clock on Tuesday, April 7, 2026 at Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church celebrated by Father Herbert Burke.
