Phillip Stanley (Phil) Ledford, age 77 of Forest City died Thursday, July 16, 2026, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. Phil as he was known to his family and friends was born on October 28, 1948, in Rutherford County and was a son of the late Roy Everett Ledford and Bonnie McAbee Ledford.
Phil worked for Mastercraft Corporation where he retired as a department manager in the Warping /Slashing Department. He was a faithful member of Forest Lake Baptist Church where he had served as a Deacon, a former member of the choir and a Sunday School teacher. For many years he was a coach in Minor League Baseball, helping to shape the lives of young men in our community. He and his wife always welcomed their children’s friends into their home, for food and fun. Phil was a loving husband, father, and grandfather and his family was at the center of his life.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Steve Ledford and Mike Ledford, and his sister, Peggy Ledford West.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Sandra Tate Ledford of the home, his sons, Mitch Ledford and wife Susan, Todd Ledford and wife Jeni, and Eric Ledford and wife Adrienne all of Forest City, his daughter, Kim Ledford Padgett and husband George of Cliffside, and his sister, Darlene White and husband Wayne of Shingle Hollow. There are 16 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren.
The funeral service will be held at 2 o’clock on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, at Forest Lake Baptist Church with Pastor Steve Smith and Pastor Wayne Stafford officiating. Interment will follow at Eternal Hills Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1 until 2 o’clock prior to the service in the church Sanctuary.
