Perry Owens

Clement Perry Owens, 93, of Bostic, passed away Tuesday, June 2, 2020, at Fair Haven Home, after a long illness. He was born March 3, 1927, in Milton, WV, the son of Lawrence Earl Owens and Nora Margaret Perry Owens. Perry graduated from Marshall University in 1950 with a bachelor’s degree in business. He worked for American Viscose/FMC Fibers Division/Avtex Fibers for thirty years, in Marcus Hook, PA; Nitro, WV; and Valley Forge, PA; retiring as Vice President of Industrial Relations. After retirement he taught business and economics at Isothermal Community College.

Perry married Barbara Anne Wells on June 9, 1951, in Huntington, WV. They moved from Milton, WV, to Nitro, WV, in 1959; to Swarthmore, PA, in 1960; to Cross Lanes, WV, in 1967; to Broomall, PA, in 1976; and retired to Rutherford County, NC, in 1983. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Forest City, NC.

Perry was predeceased by his parents and his older sister, Jean Owens Morris.

He is survived by his sister, Jo Ann Owens, of Bostic, NC; two daughters, Rachel of Daytona Beach, FL, and Martha of Bostic, NC; one grandson, Thomas (Melanie) Wilder of Swannanoa, NC, and two great-grandchildren.

A service from the graveside will be held at 11 o’clock Friday, June 5, 2020 at Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery, Ellenboro with the Reverend Dr. Joel Spencer officiating.  No formal visitation is planned.
