Mildred Richards Brittain, age 88, died Saturday, October 5, 2024, at Fairhaven Home in Bostic.  Mildred was born September 12, 1936, in Cleveland County and was a daughter of the late Clemmie Roy Richards and Leila Chapman Richards. 

Mildred was a Licensed Practical Nurse having worked at the former Cleveland Memorial Hospital where she retired.  She also attended Mount Olivet Baptist Church for many years.  She was a resilient woman of strong faith who was always kind, calm, and reassuring.  Caring for her family was one of the most important things in her life.  Mildred was a devoted wife, a loving mother, and doting grandmother and great-grandmother.  She loved to cook, trips to the beach and travel with her late husband. 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, William “Bill” Brittain who died in February of this year, her sister, Margie Gettys, and her great-grandson, Asher Splawn. 

Survivors include her daughter, Sherrie Brittain Bostic and husband Scott of Ellenboro, her brother, Ray Dean Richards of Green Creek, NC, her sister, Edith Monday and husband David of Morganton, NC, as well as her grandchildren and great-grandchildren whom she loved so much, Amy Saad and husband Ken, Aaron Bostic and wife Carly, and Allie Bostic, and great-grandchildren, Braeden Bostic, Madeline Saad, Brittain Saad, Tucker Splawn, Grace Splawn, and Landon Splawn. 

The family will have a visitation from 2:30 until 3:30 on Thursday, October 10, 2024, in the Sanctuary at Mount Olivet Baptist Church and reception in the Fellowship Hall where all are welcome to visit and share with the family.  Interment will be private for the family in the church cemetery with the Reverend Travis Laflin officiating.

The family is at the home of her grandson, Aaron and Carly Bostic, 101 Tall Pine Street, Boiling Springs, North Carolina.
