Mike Ruff

Mike Ruff, age 68 of Forest City died Thursday, November 9, 2023, at his home.  Mike was born on January 9, 1955, in Rutherford County and was a son of the late William Charles Ruff, Jr., and Loretta Phillips Ruff.  He had worked as a Recreation Manager for Rutherford County Parks and Recreation.  Mike umpired many baseball and softball games and was also a soccer referee.  He was a member of the Florence Baptist Church and was a veteran serving two enlistments in the United States Marine Corps during Vietnam.  Mike received his Associates Degree from Isothermal Community College and his Bachelors from Western Carolina University.  He enjoyed the outdoors, especially deer hunting.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Sherri Crawford.

Survivors include his wife, Lynn Davis Ruff of the home, his sons, William Conrad Ruff of Nashville, Tennessee, and Alexander Bennett Ruff of Forest City, his brother, Marty Ruff of Forest City, and sisters, Sandy Thomas of Cliffside, Linda Sprouse of Forest City and Angel Maxwell of Mooresboro.

The funeral service will be held at 3 o’clock on Tuesday, November 14, 2023, in the Florence Baptist Church with the Reverend Daniel Selman and Reverend Tonya Garrison officiating.  Interment will follow at Cool Springs Cemetery with military honors accorded by the Rutherford County Honor Guard.  The family will receive friends from 2 until 3 o’clock at the church prior to the service.
