John Michael “Mike” Johnson age 68 of Forest City died Thursday, March 5, 2026, at the home of his daughter in Spindale following an extended illness.

Mike was born on January 11, 1958, in Sarasota, Florida, having resided in Rutherford County for the past several years. He was retired from Thompson Exterminating and was a member of the Sulphur Springs Baptist Church.

He was a loving father, treasured his grandchildren, and enjoyed fishing, hunting and anything outdoors.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Tammy Allen Johnson.

Surviving is a son, John Thomas “Tommy” Johnson of Forest City; a daughter, Jolene Johnson of Spindale; a sister, Brenda Hughes of South Carolina; grandchildren, Gunner, Zalayah and step-grandchildren, Dalvin, Salem, and Jalen.

Graveside services will be held Tuesday, March 10, 2026, at 2 o’clock in the Sulphur Springs Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will greet friends following the service at the cemetery.
