Michael Gregory (Mike) Harrill, age 68 of Forest City died Friday, January 30, 2026, at his home.  Mike, as he was known to his family and friends, was born on March 7, 1957, in Rutherford County and he was the son of the late Herman Lee Harrill, Sr., and Blanche Elizabeth Allen Harrill. 

Mike grew up in Forest City and was a graduate of East Rutherford High School.  He was a locomotive engineer for CSX Transportation where he worked until his retirement with 35 years’ service. Mike had many friends and co-workers with the railroad that he enjoyed working with over the years, many of which remain friends today. 

Mike was a former Youth Football coach, and he was a faithful fan of Atlanta Braves Baseball, the UNC Tarheels and the Panthers.  Always the life of the party, Mike was known for his quick wit and his sense of humor. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Beth Ann Harrill.

Survivors include his beloved daughter and step-daughter, Allie Harrill of Forest City and Jessica Robbins of Bostic, his brother, Lee Harrill and wife Mary of Rutherfordton, his sister, Bobbie Harrill Walker and husband Mike of Forest City, and his twin brother, Mitch Harrill and wife Julie of Bostic. There are also six grandchildren, Keiston, Draiden, Traisen, Emi, Max and Chase.

A memorial service will be held at 1 PM Thursday, February 5, 2026, in The Padgett and King Chapel with Reverend Pat Jobe officiating.  The family will receive friends from 11:30 until 12:45 prior to the service at Padgett and King.
