Mickey Green

Peggy “Mickey” Epley Green, age 86 of Forest City died Monday, June 6, 2022, at her home.  Mickey, as she was known was born in Rutherford County on September 11, 1935, and was a daughter of the late R. H. Epley , Sr., and Mattie Ruth Watson Epley.

Mickey was a longtime member of the Crestview Baptist Church where she was active in her Sunday School Class, a former member of the Choir, the WMU and served as Director of the Senior Citizens Group. She retired from Tanner Companies.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Ray Green, her brothers, Kermit Epley, Wayne Epley, Bobby Epley and Francis Epley, and daughter-in-law, Jinny Green.

Survivors include her son, Scott Green of Spartanburg, her daughter, Elizabeth G. DeChant and husband Mike Newsome of Forest City, her sister, Jean E. Gibbs of Union Mills, and brothers, Don Epley and wife Barbara of Smithfield, Virginia, and R.H. “Firpo” Epley, Jr., of Forest City.  There are nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

A Celebration of her life will be held at 3 o’clock Thursday, June 9, 2022, at Crestview Baptist Church with Reverend Kevin Rohm officiating.  The family will receive friends in the Sanctuary from 2 until 3 o’clock prior to the service.  Interment will be private for the immediate family.
