Michael Scott Millwood, age 71 of Union Mills died Thursday, August 28, 2025 at UNC Health Blueridge in Morganton.  Mike was born on March 5, 1954 in Rutherford County to the late Thomas and Virginia Daniel Millwood.

Mike was a man who loved life and people.  He was someone who loved serving others as well as someone who many would turn to when faced with important decisions.  His wisdom, humor and steady perspective made him a trusted friend, mentor and guide to all who knew him.  

Above all, Mike deeply loved his family.  He was always ready with a smile or a laugh to help brighten any moment.  His devotion to them was evident in the way he lived each day, offering his time, support and unwavering love.

One of his favorite sayings, which guided his life was “If you always do what you’ve always done, then you’ll always have what you always had.”  This phrase captured his belief in growth, change and making the most of every opportunity.

Along with his parents Mike was preceded in death by his brother Roger Millwood and sister Brenda Wilson.

Survivors include his wife, Teresa Tesseniar Millwood of the home, his son, Ryan Millwood and wife Jessica of Mooresboro, his daughter Haley Brown and husband James of Morganton, his grandchildren, Clayton, Adeline and Caroline Brown and Elijah, Emleigh, Trinity, Slade and Shiloh Millwood as well as two great grandchildren.  Mike is also survived by his honorary son Chane Burke.

A funeral will be held at 11 o'clock in the morning on Saturday, August 30, 2025 at Father's Vineyard in Spindale with Reverend Terry Howell officiating.  Visitation will be held an hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will follow at Sandy Level Baptist Church Cemetery, Bostic.
