Michael Edwards Obituary

Michael Allen Edwards, age 72 of Forest City died Friday, May 20, 2022, at Hospice of The Carolina Foothills.  Mike as he was known was born on September 7, 1949, in McDowell County and was a son of the late Skelt and Cloa Moody Edwards. 

Mike was a faithful member of New Bethel Baptist Church where he was a former deacon and member of the choir. He was a supervisor for National Textiles where he worked for several years until his retirement.  He honorably served his country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War.  Mike enjoyed the outdoors and two of his favorite hobbies were golf and hunting. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Nina Holcomb.

Survivors include his wife, Judy Champion Edwards of the home,  his sister, Linda Casper and husband Jack of Tennessee, brother-in-law, Burgin Champion and wife Darlene of Forest City, sister-in-law, Vivian Champion of Bostic and numerous nieces and nephews. 

The funeral service will be held at 2 o’clock Wednesday, May 25, 2022, at New Bethel Baptist Church with Reverend Greg Qualls and Reverend Stephen Matheny officiating.  Interment will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends following the graveside service in the Gazebo in the cemetery. 

Memorials in his memory may be made to New Bethel Baptist Church, 223 New Bethel Church Road, Forest City, North Carolina 28043.
