Mary Frances Moore Obituary

Mary Frances Moore, age 89 of Cliffside, NC passed away Friday at Hospice of Carolina Foothills.

She was the daughter of the late Fletcher and Ona Ruppe and was preceded in death by her husband Robert “Bob” Moore.

Left to cherish her memories are a daughter, Carole Farmer and husband Garry of Gastonia, NC, and a son Robert “Butch “Moore and wife Karen of Forest City, NC., 6 grandchildren: Maria Roland, Joshua Moore, Anna Massey, Kelia Furr, David Farmer and Elena Harris, and 13 great grandchildren.

Mary Frances was an accomplished pianist that loved to play for her Lord, church, and friends. She loved sharing life conversation and memories with family and friends. Mary Frances and her late husband Bob retired to the surf of the Outer Banks of NC where they made lifelong friends.

She was known in her earlier years as a butcher and liver mush cooker at her father’s grocery and meat market (Ruppe’s Grocery in Cliffside). Quilting, sewing, and preparing food for family and neighbors were always at the top of her list. She never met a stranger she couldn’t have a meaningful conversation with. Mary Frances was also known as the queen of cakes, baking creative birthday cakes for parties and celebrations throughout the surrounding counties.

She served as the Pianist at Cliffside Baptist for over 20 years. In her later years, she moved to Eastwood Village. With the move to Eastwood Village, she joined Florence Baptist Church, serving as one of the Senior Choir Pianist. She enjoyed Wednesday evening services, the meals and of course “conversation”. Mary Frances was a lifelong active member of the Duke Power Retirees Club, where she could engage in memories of Duke Power travel, work, and friendships where her beloved husband had worked for 36 years.
