Mary Jane (Martin) Walden

Mary Jane Martin Walden, 83, formerly of Eastover Drive, Forest City, died Monday, May 24, 2021 at Oakland Living Center.  She was born in Donaldsonville, GA and was the daughter of the late Wilmer Martin and Hazel Hill Martin and widow of the late F. Pruett Walden.  Mary Jane retired from Rutherford County Schools after thirty four years service, she was a member of the Forest City Lions Club, Pilot Club, and a member of First Baptist Church of Forest City where she was a member of the Love Circle Sunday school class.

Survivors include her sons, Scott Walden of Fletcher, NC, and Steven Walden (Kathleen) of Weaverville, NC; a sister, Carolyn Barnes (Tommy) of Helena, AL and grandchildren, Jacob, Savannah, Emma, Patricia, Sam, Oliver, Olivia, and Audrey.

Funeral services will be held three o’clock, Wednesday, May 26, 2021 in the Padgett & King Chapel with Reverend Dr. Garin Hill officiating.  Interment will follow in the Cool Springs Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from two until three o’clock Wednesday at Padgett & King.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of the Carolina Foothills, P O Box 336, Forest City, NC 28043.
