Mary Sue Self Robbins, age 77 of West Street, Spindale, died Thursday, October 17, 2019 at Hospice House in Forest City. Sue was born on June 19, 1942 in Rutherford County and was a daughter of the late Clyde and Alice Canipe Self.
Sue was a graduate of Mt. Vernon High School and received her education in nursing from Gardner-Webb College, Isothermal Community College and Gaston Community College. She worked as a Registered Nurse at Rutherford Hospital and for the last twenty years with Carolina Home Care.
She was also a faithful member of Adaville Baptist Church, and the Forest City Senior Citizens group. One of her favorite activities was playing cards with her friends and reading.
"Nana" as she was affectionately called, was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister. She was preceded in death by her brother, Bill Self.
Survivors include her sons, Curtis Robbins of Ellenboro, Chris Robbins and wife Rhonda of Rutherfordton, Gregg Robbins and Gary Robbins both of Forest City, her sister, Brenda Self Harrill and husband Ronnie of Ellenboro. There are also six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
The funeral service will be held at twelve o'clock noon, Monday, October 21, 2019 at Adaville Baptist Church with Reverend Jeff Pate officiating. Interment will follow at Eternal Hills Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 10:30 until 11:45 Monday prior to the service in the sanctuary.
