Mary Goforth Rome, age 88, died Friday, January 1, 2021 at Rutherford Regional Medical Center. She had been a resident of Fair Haven Home in Bostic, NC for 15 years
Born January 29, 1932 in Rutherford County, she was a daughter of the late Kelly and Coye McDaniel Goforth.
She was also preceded in death by her husband Troy Rome and two brothers, Robert Goforth and Larry Goforth.
She worked as a spinner several years at Cone Mill in Cliffside and Ora Mill in Shelby but devoted her life to family. She lived with her husband Troy at Carolina House for a few years before going on to Fair Haven Nursing Home where she lived for 15 years. She loved to participate in all of their activities especially Bingo. She was considered the Bingo Queen of Fair Haven. She also enjoyed word Seek books and watching Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy.
Survivors are daughters, Stella Carroll, Teresa Tate and husband Michael, Elizabeth Black and husband Jerry; Grandchildren, Jarrett Carroll and wife Jennifer, Jamie Carroll and wife Mallory, Tracie Secker and husband Brad, Stacie Hall and husband Branden, Adam Harris and wife Ashley, Cody Black and wife Morgan, Preston Black and wife Harlee, Bethany and husband Miguel; great grandchildren, Jarrett Jr, Jordan, Hayden, Natalie, Madison, Lucas, Ella, Elijah, Amelia, Snow, Esaias, and Micah on the way.
Memorials may be made to Oak Grove United Methodist, 1507 Oak Grove Church Road, Ellenboro, North Carolina 28043 where she was a long standing member or to Fair Haven Nursing Home, 149 Fairhaven Drive, Bostic, North Carolina 28018 to assist in the battle of the vicious Covid virus.
A private graveside service will be held for her family in the Oak Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery with Reverend Chris Glawson officiating.
