Mary Stott Epley, age 91 of Forest City died Tuesday, February 14, 2023 at Hospice of the Carolina Foothills.  Mary was born on May 22, 1931 in Rutherford County and was a daughter of the late Norris Stott and Dora Wilkerson Stott.  She was a graduate of R-S Central High School.  Mary was a faithful member of Crestview Baptist Church where for many years was Secretary of her Sunday School Class, and was Senior Citizens Director. 

Mary will be best remembered for working at Smith’ s Drug Store where she was Manager of the Fountain until her retirement.  

She was preceded in death by her husband, George Kermit Epley in 2004, a daughter, Phyllis Epley Cantrell in 2019, a daughter-in-law, Susie Bostic Epley in 2023 and a sister, Winnie Stott Hill. 

Survivors include her son, Jerry Epley of Bostic, son-in-law Billy Cantrell of Forest City, her grandchildren, Dwayne Epley (Debbie), Melissa Epley Lyles (Eric), Eric Steven Edwards, and Stephanie Motley, her great-grandchildren, Dyson Lyles, Aleah Lyles, Kristin Motley Smith, A.J. Motley, and T.J. Motley, a great-great-grandchild, J.J. Smith and three step-grandchildren, Dallas Kirby, Marcus Briscoe, and Josh Lane.

The funeral service will be held at 1 o’clock on Friday, February 17, 2023 in the Crestview Baptist Church with Reverend Kevin Rohm officiating.  The family will receive friends following the service in the Narthex.  Interment will be at Montford’s Cove Baptist Church Cemetery.  

The family will be at Mary’s home.
