Martha Flack (Butler) Ferree

Martha Flack Ferree, age 89 of Forest City died Saturday, April 2, 2022, at Fairhaven Bostic. Martha was born on October 19, 1932, in Forest City and was the daughter of the late J. L. and Ethel Huntley Butler.

Martha was a graduate of Cool Springs High School and a faithful member of the First Baptist Church where she was active in her Sunday School Class, as well as the Wednesday Morning Bible Study Group. Martha also enjoyed collecting the tickets at each Wednesday night church meal until her health no longer allowed her to be active.

Martha also enjoyed travel and playing Bridge and was active in two Forest City Bridge Clubs. She was a member of the Pilot Club of Rutherford and was very active in its work as well as the Silver Sneakers at the Mooneyham Library.  Martha was a teacher’s assistant and bus driver at Chase High School for more than twenty-five years until her retirement.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Jimmy F. Flack in 1967 and her second husband, Dan Ferree in 1983.

Survivors include her sons, Jef Flack and his wife Lynn, Mark Flack, and his wife Kim all of Forest City, her grandchildren, Lauren Hensley and her husband Austin, Tyler Flack, Bryson Flack, and Natalie Flack all of Forest City.

A service from the graveside will be held at 11 o’clock Wednesday, April 6, 2022, at Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery with the Reverend Dr. Garin Hill and Reverend Dr. Diane Nelson officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the cemetery.

The family suggest memorials be made in her memory to South Mountain Christian Camp, Post Office Box 9, Bostic, North Carolina 28018.
