Robert Marshall Harrill, age 86 of Forest City died Thursday, Nov ember 25, 2021 at Oakland Living Center. Marshall was born on October 5, 1935, in Rutherford County and was a son of the late George Wake Harrill and Hazel Brackett Harrill. He worked for PPG Industries in the Alloy Shop where he retired after 38 year’s service. Reared in Rutherford County, his family owned and operated Harrill Dairy Farm. Marshall was a charter member of Liberty Baptist Church where he was a former Deacon, Sunday School Superintendent, and served on various church committees.
He was a hard worker and one of his greatest joys was planting and growing a vegetable garden. Many will remember him selling his produce at the farmers market when it was located at the old fairground.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Dora Ann Matheny.
Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Carolyn McGinnis Harrill, his sons, Tony Harrill and wife Pam of Mooresboro, Tim Harrill of Mooresboro, his daughters, Janet H. Blanton and husband Jack, Lisa H. Buchanan and husband Danny, and Lori H. Hall and husband Jerry all of Forest City, his brother, George Harrill, his sister, Brenda H. Morrow of Forest City, as well as grandchildren, Ashley Buchanan, Anna Buchanan, Tyler Harrill, Caleb Blanton and wife Lindsey, Hannah Summerlin and husband Wes, Megan Hall, and Jennifer Wilkie and husband, Caleb, and great-grandchildren, Sawyer and Tucker Harrill, Calvin and Layla Blanton, Weslyn Summerlin and Caroline Jane Wilkie.
The funeral service will be held at 2 o’clock Tuesday, November 30, 2021, at Liberty Baptist Church with the Reverend Owen Duncan and Reverend Caleb Blanton officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church on Tuesday from 1 until 2 o’clock prior to the service. The family will be at the home on Harrill Dairy Road, Forest City.
