Mark Elliott Obituary
Mark James Elliott, age 68, of Forest City, passed away Thursday, July 9, 2026 at Hospice House in Forest City. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, who was lovingly known as, “Slick.” His warmth, humor, and kindness left an indelible “Mark” on all who knew him.
Born on September 15, 1957, Mark was a son of the late Richard and Gladynell Watkins Elliott. From an early age, he displayed a sharp mind and a quick wit that could brighten any room. Those who knew him best will remember his clever humor and the joy he brought to every gathering.
Mark was strongly dedicated to Rutherford County Schools, with a career lasting over 33 years in the maintenance department, retiring as the Supervisor of Custodial Services. A man of strong character and unwavering integrity, Mark approached every aspect of life with honesty and humility. He believed in doing what was right, even when no one was watching. Rooted in his faith, Mark reflected Christ’s love through kindness and generosity. Though he rarely sought the spotlight, his actions spoke volumes, which revealed a man who cared deeply, gave freely, and loved faithfully.
For 35 years, Mark shared his life with his wife, Donna Bright Elliott. Their union brought forth Mark’s greatest blessings, his children, Maggie Elliott Crowe and her husband, Stephen, of Forest City, and Bo Elliott and his wife, Andrea, of Morganton. He was a proud and loving father who delighted in his “Irish Twins” accomplishments, never missing an opportunity to remind them how much he loved and admired them. Mark was thrilled with the arrival of his grandchildren, Scarlett Bo Crowe, Sullivan Crowe, Valerie Elliott, and Stryder Crowe, who affectionately called him, “Deeds.” He loved making them laugh, sharing sweet treats, and doting on them. He is also survived by his siblings, Rick Elliott, Kay Elliott Hollifield, and Becky Elliott.
The memorial service will be private for the family. The family would like to extend an invitation to receive friends from 2:00-4:00PM on Sunday, July 19th in the Adaville Baptist Church Gymnasium.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested to be made to Hospice of the Carolina Foothills, Post Office Box 336, Forest City, North Carolina 28043.
The Padgett and King Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
