Marilyn Sowden Obituary


Marilyn Fae Sowden passed early Saturday morning, January 21, 2023 in the arms of her husband in their longtime home in Forest City, NC. She was 72 years old.


Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents Roy and Fae Fischer, her brothers Roger and Rodney Fischer and her grandson David Jay Sowden.


She is survived by her loving husband of 43 years David, her children John (Kim) Sowden of Suffolk, VA, Tracey Sowden of Forest City, Troy (Melody) Sowden of Olive Branch, MS and Nick Sowden (Nicole) of Dawsonville, GA. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren: Christa Robinson, Cody Greer, Skylar Sowden and Dillon Shaver, Devan Sowden and Shonda Schueneman, Judah, Alexa and Noah Sowden, Wyatt Pittman and MaKayla Sowden.
 

Born Marilyn Fae Fischer on June 27, 1950 in Bismarck, ND, Marilyn grew up in eastern Montana, before meeting her husband David in Seattle where they started their family in 1979. In 1995 they moved to North Carolina where they lived until her passing. She attended Fathers Vineyard Church for 22 years. She was a homemaker for many years then shortly after the family moved to North Carolina she began preparing taxes which she did through 2022. The daughter of an Assemblies of God Pastor, Marilyn had a lifelong love for God and deep faith in Him. She enjoyed prayer, various ministries, board games, Christian television, and especially spending time with her dog Ruby.


All who would like to attend are invited to join the family as they honor Marilyn with a Celebration of Life service on Thursday January 26, at 6pm at The Padgett and King Mortuary Chapel in Forest City.
