Marilyn Butler Obituary

Marilyn Maloney Butler, age 68 of Bostic died Sunday, June 18, 2023, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.  A native of Rutherford County, she was born on December 27, 1954, and is a daughter of Jessie Hollifield Maloney of Forest City and the late Reverend Clyde J. Maloney.

Marilyn worked as a Title Clerk for Beam Chevrolet until her retirement.  She was a faithful member of Sunshine Church where she was active in church activities and served as church secretary.  Her husband, Thomas Canie Butler preceded her in death in 2014. 

In addition to her mother, Jessie Maloney, she is survived by her son, Chad Hart McFarland and wife Heather of Bostic, step-son, Thomas R. “Tommy” Butler, II, and wife Shawna of Stafford, Virginia,  step-daughter, Mandy Butler Vaughn and husband Shane of Easley, SC, her brother, Johnny Maloney and wife Jo Ann of Bostic, and sister, Janet Gettys of Bostic. There are also five grandchildren, Halle and Casse McFarland, Taylor and Cassidy Butler and Mason Vaughn. 

The funeral service will be held at 2 o’clock on Thursday, June 22, 2023, at Sunshine Church, DePriest Road, Bostic with the Reverend Keyes Pendleton and Reverend Steve Harmon officiating.  Interment will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friend from 1 until 2 o’clock prior to the service at the church.
