Lynn (Shytle) Melton

Lynn Shytle Melton, 61, of the Chase Community went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, January 27, 2023. Born on September 19, 1961, she was the oldest daughter of the late Bobby and Joann Shytle. Lynn was blessed with so many spiritual gifts, from her giving heart to her spirit of compassion for others.

She was a lifetime, faithful member of Bethany Baptist Church and served as a choir member, Vacation Bible School, and children’s Sunday school teacher, and most recently as the Director of WMU. She was the perfect example of a Proverbs 31 woman by taking care of her family and sharing the love of God. Time with family was sacred to Lynn. She was happiest when everyone could be together sharing a home cooked meal, surrounded by love and laughter. While in high school, she met the love of her life, Billy Melton, Jr. They were married in September of 1980 and tackled life together for over forty-two years. In 1992, she gained her most beloved title, Mom, when her son Matthew was born. Lynn worked for 30 years in the health care system.

Those left to carry on her legacy are husband Billy Melton Jr. of the home, son Matthew Melton of Savannah, GA, sister Penny Shytle Brown of Forest City, mother-in-law Evelyn Melton of the Chase community, nephew Preston Shytle and wife, Kristie of Raleigh, and great nephew and niece, Leeland and Leighton Shytle.

Services will be held on Tuesday, January 31st at Bethany Baptist Church at 2 pm with the Reverend Chris Fox officiating. Receiving friends will be held in the church social hall after services are concluded.
