Lois Johnson Whiteside
September 23, 1930 ~ January 9, 2024 (age 93) 93 Years Old
Lois Ann Johnson Whiteside, age 93 of Spindale, died Tuesday, January 9, 2024, at Hospice House of Forest City. Lois was born in Rutherford County on September 23, 1930, and was a daughter of the late Theron and Mary Green Johnson.
She was a member of Missionary Wesleyan Church where she enjoyed taking part in church activities and supporting her church. Lois had a servant’s heart and a strong faith in God. She always put the needs of others first and was happiest when she was helping those in need. Anyone that entered her home was treated with love, respect, and food.
Lois’s family was so important to her, and she spent her life working to see that they were taken care of. She was a devoted and faithful wife, a devoted mother to her two sons, and a loving grandmother.
She worked for many years as manager of the Snack Shop at Rutherford Hospital where she has served so many hospital visitors in her career. After retirement, she was an in-home caregiver for many who needed help to remain at home.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, E.L. Whiteside in 2022, her brothers, Bobby Johnson and Paul Johnson, and her sister, Grace Luck.
Survivors include her sons, Jimmy Whiteside and wife Sheila of Rutherfordton, Jerry Whiteside of Spindale, her grandson, Justin Whiteside, and wife Becky, and her great- grandchildren, Walker and Maddox Whiteside all of Ocean Isle Beach.
The funeral service will be held at 3 o’clock on Saturday, January 13, 2024 in The Padgett and King Chapel with the Reverend Jason Madison and her nephew, Reverend Gary Reeves officiating. Interment will follow in the Cool Springs Cemetery. Ther family will receive friends from 2 until 3 o’clock prior to the service at the mortuary.
